This is a visa for tourists, Business tourists or people who want to visit their family in Australia. There are various streams under this visa. We have provided a brief summary below of the requirements for these streams.

Subclass 600

Tourist stream (offshore)

You must

  • have genuine intention to come to Australia to visit only

  • have enough funds to support your stay in Australia

  • not work

  • must be outside Australia when you apply for this visa and when a decision is made on your application

Tourist stream (onshore)

You must

  • be in Australia when you apply for this stream

  • have genuine intention to come to Australia to visit only

  • have enough funds to support your stay in Australia

  • not work

  • hold a substantive visa or have your substantive visa ceased within the last 28 days

  • must be inside Australia when you apply for this visa and when a decision is made on your application

Tourist stream (offshore)

You must

  • have genuine intention to come to Australia business visitor activities only

  • have enough funds to support your stay in Australia

  • not work

Approved Destination Status stream

This visa stream allows citizen from some areas of China who visit Australia on tour organized by an approved travel agent

You must

  • be a citizen of the People's Republic of China

  • visit Australia in a tour organized by an approved travel agent

  • have genuine intention to come to Australia to visit only

Frequent traveler stream

This visa stream is for citizen China who visit Australia often for business or personal reasons

You must

  • be a citizen of the People's Republic of China

  • provide biometrics at an Australian visa Application Centre or Australian Biometric Collection Centre before the application

  • have genuine intention to come to Australia to visit only

Sponsored family stream

You must

  • have a sponsor, usually a family member who can sponsor you

  • have or have access to enough funds to support your stay in Australia

  • have genuine intention to come to Australia to visit only

Subclass 462

First Work and Holiday visa

You must

  • hold a passport from an eligible country

  • be 18 to 30 years of age

  • be outside when you apply for this visa

  • not include any family members in the application

  • must meet the education requirement depending on your country of passport

  • have functional English

Work and Holiday visa

Second Work and Holiday visa

You must

  • hold a passport from an eligible country

  • be 18 to 30 years of age

  • hold or have held one Work and Holiday visa

  • have entered on this visa

  • have completed 3 months of specified work

  • not include any family members in the application

Third Work and Holiday visa

You must

  • hold a passport from an eligible country

  • have previously held two subclass 462 visas, first and second Work and Holiday visa

  • be 18 to 30 years of age

  • have completed 6 months of specified work

  • not include any family members in the application

This visa allows young citizens of selected countries (eligible countries) to come to Australia for extended holiday and to work to support their stay. After the first visa you can apply and be granted a second and then a Third Work and Holiday visa if you are eligible

Working Holiday visa

This visa allows young citizens of selected countries (eligible countries) to come to Australia for extended holiday and to work to support their stay. After the first visa you can apply and be granted a second and then a third Working Holiday visa if you are eligible

Subclass 417

First Working Holiday visa

You must

  • hold a passport from an eligible country or jurisdiction

  • be 18 or 30 or 35 years of age depending on country of your passport

  • be outside when you apply for this visa

  • not include any family members in the application

  • must meet the education requirement depending on your country of passport

  • have enough funds to support your stay in Australia

Second Work and Holiday visa

You must

  • hold a passport from an eligible country or jurisdiction

  • be 18 to 30 years of age depending on country of your passport

  • have entered on a subclass 417 visa

  • have completed 3 months of specified work

  • not include any family members in the application

  • hold a substantive visa or have a substantive visa expired withing 28 days of application if applying in Australia

Third Work and Holiday visa

You must

  • hold a passport from an eligible country or jurisdiction

  • have previously held two subclass 417 visas, first and second Working Holiday visas

  • be 18 to 30 or 35 years of age depending on your country of passport

  • have completed 6 months of specified work

  • not include any family members in the application
